OnePlus One the self proclaimed “Flagship Killer Of 2014” is finally here. After an exhaustive teaser campaign the phone is finally launched to the masses. It may not be available to the whole world but some major ones are surely going to get it as I write the article. So what is it that the company claims it to be the Flagship Killer Of 2014, lets find it out.
The Design looks very similar to the Oppo Find 7 which was released few months before. But there are many differences which adds to the beauty of The One. The device features a minimalist design with only 4.6mm at the thinnest and 8.9mm at the thickest regions it feels really great at hand. Though the 5.5″ screen looks a bit on the phablet end but the phone is not too wide making it a more comfortable device to hold. There is an added feature of switching between the on screen navigation buttons to the capacitive keys. Navigation is now exactly how you prefer it to be.
Measuring just 8.9mm, the OnePlus One is ergonomic and easy to grip, with a tapered edge of just 4.6mm. Choose either Silk White or Sandstone Black, both unique textures, for the feel of a premium device that is built to last.
The OnePlus One features a 5.5” 1080p full HD JDI screen with LTPS(Low Temperature Polysilicone) technology for a higher pixel density and sharper picture. The IPS screen instantaneously responds to even the slightest touch with TOL (Touch On Lens) technology, which removes the distance between the touch sensor and the display panel. It also makes the screen 300% more shatterproof than OGS(One Glass Solution) technology. Gorilla© Glass 3 protects the screen against scratches, and with 178 degree vision, you can enjoy it from just about any angle.
Packing a Qualcomm© Snapdragon™ 801 processor with 2.5GHz Quad-Core CPUs, the OnePlus One’s operational capacity and performance are enhanced by Qualcomm’s heterogeneous computing approach.
This chipset harnesses the robust integration of many components for incredible speed and power efficiency. Among them, the custom Krait CPU architecture for sustained peak performance, integrated 4G LTE connectivity and Adreno 330 GPU for superior graphics and gaming experience, boosting 3D interfaces, colors and textures.
Camera & Sensors
Boasting a 13 megapixel Sony Exmor IMX214 camera with f/2.0 aperture, the OnePlus One camera takes amazing pictures even in low light conditions. Shoot anytime, anywhere for bright, sharp photos. camera boasts 6 physical lenses. Your photos will be more precise and detailed without suffering from distortion often caused by lower apertures.
Also an impressive 5 megapixel camera adorning the front of the OnePlus One, selfies will be more captivating than ever. The extra-wide 80º viewing angle captures more area than other phones so your pictures will include more background without distortion.
Stereo recording and tri-microphone noise cancelling technology are incorporated directly into the OnePlus One. Three microphones work together to identify, isolate and enhance your voice, while simultaneously filtering background noise. Use of the third microphone increases voice clarity by up to 80%.
Taking the leads from the MotoX, the OnePlus also allows you to have exchangeable back covers. StyleSwap covers come in a range of materials and textures, including kevlar, bamboo and denim on top of standard silk and sandstone. Now you can customize your phone for the look and feel you prefer, and change it up whenever you’d like.
Price & Software
Considering the specifications and hardware, you’d expect the OnePlus One to be priced upwards of $600, but this is where this smartphone gets incredible. The OnePlus One is priced at $299 for the 16GB version and just $349 for the 64GB version. At this price, the OnePlus One is only rivalled by the Nexus 5, and is an absolute steal in the flagship class.
The OnePlus features CyanogenMod 11S OS based on Android 4.4 KitKat. CM 11S is a special version of CyanogenMod that’s specifically designed to take advantage of all the features of this smartphone.
This phone is really a deal breaker for all the OEM’s. Hope it delivers the same performance and teach the big guys a lesson.
