The first preview of Android N is released for all the Nexus devices. Android N developer preview is usually released during the Google I/O. But this year Google thought to be a little pro-active and released the preview much earlier than expected.
This means that Google is aggressive to bring out all the necessary features that is missing from the current generation of Android. Early release means developers get more time in playing with all the new features and providing their feedback. Also, this time Android finally included the Multi-Window feature and many other noteworthy features. The multi-window feature works on both tablets and phones, and when we look at the screenshots that Google provided it seems like you can resize the opened apps.
One other feature that caught our attention was the Notification bar. Quick replies are now supported from the notification bar also we now get quick toggles for Wi-fi,Cellular and Flashlight. The Doze feature also got some upgrades that will help in decreasing the battery drain.
The Android N developer preview is available for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Android One Devices, Pixel C, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. If you have any one of these devices and you can’t stop yourself from getting the preview then we’ve got your back! The factory images are available right here. Google is also offering a 25% discount to it’s Pixel C tablet, so if you’re a developer from US then it’s the right time to buy one.
Just a word of caution that the developer preview is only meant for developers or Android enthusiasts who can’t wait to get their hands on. It is not complete yet and is in development stage so you might get some force closes and other problems. So brace yourself and get the Android N developer preview.
What will be Android N? I’m betting on Nutella. Let’s wait and watch what’s it gonna be!
